Dentures Q & A

What are dentures?

Dentures are artificial teeth. There are different types of dentures available to restore your smile, including full dentures for a full set of teeth and partial dentures to replace one tooth or a few missing teeth.

The gaps left by missing teeth can interfere with eating, speech, and other daily activities. You might be one of many people feeling self-conscious about how missing teeth have altered the look of your smile.

Dentures are an effective, functional, and aesthetic solution for tooth loss. Ask Dr. Danielewicz about same-day dentures and denture repairs.

How can I get full dentures?

In many cases, you can receive full dentures in just 24 hours. There may also be multiple office visits involved in the denture development process.

There are different types of dentures offered at Dr. Danielewicz’s office, such as economy, basic, analog premium, and digital premium. During your initial consultation, Dr. Danielewicz helps you decide the right dentures to suit your individual needs and explains the process in detail.

First, Dr. Danielewicz makes impressions of your mouth and teeth and sends the impressions to a dental lab. In the lab, a qualified lab technician uses these impressions to make a more precise impression of the contours in the arch of your mouth.

Typically, a technician makes a wax model from this precise impression and sends it back to the dental office. You’ll likely try on the wax model a few times to make sure you and Dr. Danielewicz are happy with the fit. Dr. Danielewicz assesses your dentures for shape, color, and fit before your final dentures are cast.

Once your fittings are complete, your final dentures are cast at the lab and sent back to you. If your dentures are being secured with dental implants (artificial tooth roots), this involves additional dental procedures in-office but results in an incredibly secure denture fit.

How can I get partial dentures?

You might choose partial dentures when you’re missing a number of teeth but not all of your teeth.

First, Dr. Danielewicz makes impressions of your teeth and mouth and prepares your teeth to fit your new partial dentures. He sends your custom impressions to a dental lab where a framework is made and returned to you for a trial fitting.

The procedure for partial dentures is similar to that of full dentures. Typically, you have multiple fittings before your dentures are returned to the lab for the final adjustments and for your replacement teeth to be added.
