What is a dental crown?
Dental crowns are a dental prosthesis specially designed to act as a cap for your damaged tooth and blend in with your natural teeth.
Dental crowns are usually made from porcelain, metal, or ceramic, and can alter and enhance the size, shape, and appearance of damaged teeth and protect them from any additional decay, infection, and damage. Dr. Danielewicz carefully places a dental crown over your tooth to restore broken, chipped, discolored, or cracked teeth.
Dr. Danielewicz utilizes the latest in crown technology. CEREC crowns involve in-office scanning, designing, and milling of beautiful dental restorations. Dr. Danielewicz digitally scans your teeth before promptly sending the information and data to an in-office milling machine that produces your custom crown right away.

What can I expect during my dental crown procedure?
During your CEREC dental crown procedure, Dr. Danielewicz prepares your tooth and removes the damaged or decayed material. He then shapes your tooth so it’s ready to properly fit your restoration.
Once your tooth is prepared, Dr. Danielewicz uses a special camera to take highly accurate mapping images of your tooth and convert the images into a 3D computerized model that he uses to design your restoration.
When both you and Dr. Danielewicz are happy with the design, he sends this data to the special milling machine in the office where it fabricates your new tooth from an all-ceramic block.
The milling process typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Dr. Danielewicz might stain your crown to match your teeth more, before glazing or polishing your crown in a special dental furnace. For the final step, Dr. Danielewicz cements the crown to your teeth.
With CEREC crowns, you don’t have to wear a temporary crown and the procedure only involves one set of local anesthetic injections.
